The History of Chocolaterie Wanders

Since 1726 the Wanders Family has produced world-class chocolates, pastries and savories. We pride ourselves in the rich gastronomic traditions started by Wilhelm Wanders in Elten, Germany over 150 years ago. We are pleased to be able to share our history and passion for chocolate with you, and invite you to savor a piece of the Old World.

The images above show the coats of arms and logos that have represented the Wanders family over the years. The focus on culinary craftmanship began in 1726 in Elten, Germany. In 1798 Wilhelm Wanders began making pastries and other confections in what is today known as Hotel-Restaurant Wanders. Conditorei Wanders, the official cafe of the city of Kleve, Germany, began in 1981 under our parents Wilhelm and Margarethe Wanders. In 2005 we continued the culinary traditions of our family by founding Chocolaterie Wanders.
