Tasting @ The Sugar Cube Sweets & Cork and Fork

Thursday, May 8th, 2008

During the Mother’s Day craziness I almost forgot to mention that we will be condcuting tastings in Alexandria and in Gainesville. You will find us between 1-4pm on those two locations, offering you all we have to taste. Additionally there will be a wine tasting going on at Cork & Fork (I will have to be there then).

If you haven’t had any luck with finding Mother’s Day gifts, then this is a good idea too - either come by the Sugar Cube and pick up some high-end confectionary or visit us at Cork and Fork and pick up your favorite chocolate and a good bottle of wine.

Either way, we wish you & your mom a great Mother’s Day!

The day after …

Monday, March 24th, 2008

We hope y’all had a very nice Easter weekend. Melanie and I actually worked on Sunday, but only until 5pm. We then went to take a walk in the park and enjoyed the chilly, but nice and fresh air and the blue sky. Afterwards we had ‘Boeuf Stroganoff’ - except that I made it with pork instead of beef (just had pork) and I made it just like my dad still makes it, with lots of red wine and cornichons in the sauce.

Well, where does the chocolate fit in?!

Today we delivered the goodies for ‘A spoonful of sin‘ - a dessert of the month club coming out of Manassas, Virginia. All members will get a package containing some of our chocolate confections, marzipan fruits and Wine Pate de Fruits. We are eager to hear what everyone thinks!

This Thursday we will be having a tasting event at Artfully Chocolate in Del Ray - it’s free and there is usually sparkling wine as well, so come on by if you have nothing else planned yet! The folks at Artfully do ask to RSVP (although walk-ins are always welcome) - we will make sure to have enough chocolate for everyone ;)

For Labor Day we will be present at both of our favorite wineries to serve you all of our chocolate confections and wine pate de fruit. If you had nothing big planned yet - this is the perfect opportunity to enjoy a sunny day out west in horse country, sipping some great Virginia wine and enjoy our complimentary chocolate with it.

Come on over and join us on the weekend, specifically on Saturday, September 1st at Pearmund Cellars and The Winery at La Grange around 12 to 5pm….

Don’t miss it - See you there! ;)

On to the Beach !

Friday, August 24th, 2007

By surprise we were caught when we got a call today from one of our retailers, asking if we could step by tomorrow on Saturday, August 25th to hold a chocolate and wine pate de fruit tasting at their shop. “Why not?” we thought and so here we go:

Meet us tomorrow from Noon until 4 or 6pm - depending on the amount of chocoholics :) at Bay Wine & Spirits in North Beach , Maryland. There will be a street fest and the main street is cut off, leaving you with lots of goodies to buy and try (like our chocolates). If you have never been to North Beach - it is a very small, but very pretty stretch on the Beach and you feel like on vacation the minute you get there ….. so - I like to see tomorrows event rather as vacation than work :)

Sorry for the short notice! See you tomorrow!

Tasting @ The Sugar Cube Sweets in Old Town Alexandria

Saturday, August 18th, 2007

Be there or be square :P

We will be with our friends at the Sugar Cube Sweets tomorrow and I invite y’all to come on over and to enjoy a complimentary chocolate tasting of our chocolate confections and pate de fruit. We will be there between 02:00pm and 05:00pm in the afternoon. The Sugar Cube Team has stocked up and carries our entire line of chocolate confections. Pick your favorite! They will gladly put together custom boxes for you.

Today we were busy entertaining and teaching 22 chocoholics in our production facility in Hornbaker Industrial Park. It was a great day of trying out different things and show & share the knowledge of making chocolate confections. To us it almost seems natural - but you get reminded how intricate your work really is, when you hear the comments that were made. We really love what we do and I think it shows in our product. Everyone had a great time and we found some new friends as well. Look out for more classes together with Charlie Adler from TasteDC, the event coordinator for happenings like these.

Thats it for now - we had a loooong day and a lot to do tomorrow …..

See you @ The Cube!
