LOCAL CHOCOLATIER FEATURED IN “MOCHA”
Manassas, VA, September 26, 2007 – Mocha, Michael Turback’s most recent book highlighting the sophisticated companionship of chocolate and coffee, features Manassas-based chocolatiers Melanie and Wilhelm Wanders of Chocolaterie Wanders.
The Wanders family’s recipe for “Pharisee,” a traditional German drink of espresso, chocolate and rum, which has been passed down for generations, was featured in the “cocktails” section of the book. The original recipe is still in use today at Stadt-Café Conditorei Wanders, the official café of the city of Kleve, Germany, which is owned by Wilhelm’s parents, as well as in Hotel-Restaurant Wanders in Elten, Germany, which is operated by Wilhelm’s uncle and seventh generation owner, Theodor Wanders.
